The talks between UML and Maoist leaders come a day after talks between NC and Maoist leaders. [break]
UML and Maoist leaders, the leaders said they are positive about the implementation of the three-point deal.
The talks are positive in the sense that the Maoists have engaged themselves in talks against their earlier stance that they won’t talk to the NC and UML unless the prime minister resigns.
During the meeting held at Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s residence at Naya Bazaar, top leaders of the two parties discussed formation of a consensus government, constitution-drafting and other contentious issues.
Talking to reporters after the meeting, UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal said the talks were positive and they have made it easier to implement the three-point pact.
“As the UML leadership is also serious about our stand for the prime minister’s resignation before further talks, new hopes for consensus have been seen,” said Maoist Secretary Post Bahadur Bogati.
Maoist Chairman Dahal and Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha and UML Chairman Khanal, leader Bharat Mohan Adhikari and a few other leaders took part in the meeting.
Earlier on Monday, the talks between the Maoists and the Nepali Congress had ended inconclusively after the former stuck to its stance.
