While road construction in new stretches leading to the village has been expedited lately, the existing road has also been repaired. A newly-installed transformer supplies electricity to all households in the village. Glitches related to mobile phone reception has been resolved.
Add to this, a health post has been established at the center of the village. The health post provides round-the-clock service. Drinking water facilities has also been ensured in the village at the initiatives of the Maoists lately.
According to Nepal Telecom, Gorkha, the mobile towers installed at Aappipal and Gaikhur have been brought into operation recently. Likewise, another tower at Chhapthok in the district has also been made operational. The existing capacity of telecom towers at Purkot and Bandipur in Tanahun district has also been enhanced.
“Earlier, the existing capacity would allow 50 people to talk at one time. We have increased the capacity to allow over 400 people able to talk over phone at a time,” said the chief of Nepal Telecom in Gorkha, Chandra Bahadur Shrestha.
The District Roads Office has upgraded 4.3 km stretch of road from Turture-airport-Palungtar-Thatipokhari recently. The process to gravel the upgraded road is currently under way. Likewise, a six-kilometer stretch of the road from airport to Radhakrishna Temple has also been upgraded to ensure smooth vehicular traffic during the meeting.
“We have been given the responsibility to carry out maintenance works for 50 kilometer road stretch,” said an engineer at District Road Office, Gorkha. “We will complete the work within the next one week.”
It is estimated that it would cost a total Rs 20 million to carry out the work. “We are doing all these works with a loan,” he said.
Villagers are happy with the development works. “We had not even imagined that our village would be developed this fast,” said a local, Him Narayan Shrestha.
A member of the Maoist main management committee for the plenum and Tamuwan State Committee in-charge, Hit Raj Pandey, said, “If we move ahead in the same manner to develop infrastructure, the country could be developed rapidly,” he added.
