UCPN (Maoist) leaders Nanda Kishor Pun, Janardan Sharma, CPN-Maoist leaders Hitman Shakya, Pampha Bhusal, Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist leader Dharmendra Bastola, among others, are spearheading the campaign.
“Reunification of all Maoist forces has become urgent as the achievements of the Maoist movement are being undermined by the regressive forces,” said Shakya presenting the commitment paper.
UCPN (Maoist) leader Pun proposed holding general assembly of all breakaway Maoist parties at earliest. “Achieving the objective of the 10-year-long insurgency is not possible unless all the Maoist forces are united,” said Pun.
Oli, Dahal decide to resume party unification talks
CPN-Maoist leader Dharmendra Bastola said the Maoist parties should be ready to review their political line for party reunification. Blaming other Maoist parties of deviating from the Maoist ideology, Bastola urged the parties to become people-centric.
CPN (Maoist) Chief Matrika Yadav, however, said that he was skeptical of the possibility of unification of the Maoist parties. Chief of the Revolutionary Communist Party Nepal Mani Thapa said that a wider debate on the objectives, political line and system to run the party should be held prior to unifying the Maoist parties.
Speaking at the function, some of the Maoist leaders said the top leaders should transform themselves before unification of the Maoist parties. “Reforming Maoist movement is not possible unless the leaders transform themselves,” said UCPN (Maoist) leader Bishwa Bhakta Dulal.
