The opposition, including the Maoist Centre, has been obstructing parliament, demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak over his alleged involvement in the visit visa controversy. Due to the obstruction, discussions on the national budget have not yet commenced.
Sapkota emphasized that the party’s primary demand is an investigation into the visit visa case. He said further steps will depend on how the government facilitates the environment for such an inquiry.
He also mentioned that discussions will continue with both the government and other opposition parties. “The main issue is the investigation. It’s not about targeting individuals,” he said, “Talks have been ongoing. The goal is to reach a positive conclusion.”
Describing the visa scandal as a serious and important matter, Sapkota stressed the need to create an environment for a thorough investigation and allow for meaningful deliberation in parliament.
