Party senior leader C P Gajurel, following the meeting, said, “The central committee meeting decided to include 11 new members to its 95-member committee.”
Gajurel said the meeting endorsed the political and other documents, related to the party statute, prepared for unification with the Communist Party of Nepal (Unity Center-Masal).
The meeting decided to announce the unification with the CPN (Unity Center-Masal) on Monday. “After our announcement Monday, both the parties will hold a joint mass meeting Tuesday,” said Gajurel.
Both the parties have reached an agreement to name the newly unified party as Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist). The new party will have at least 150 members in its central committee.
On the issue of division of power between secretariat and politburo committees of the new party, Gajurel said, “I think party secretariat will be powerful than the politburo.” He however added that both the parties haven’t yet reached an agreement over assigning responsibilities among senior leaders.
Both the parties will hold a joint meeting Monday afternoon following separate meeting of their respective central committees in the morning.
