KATHMANDU, June 11:  CPN (Maoist Centre) Deputy General Secretary and lawmaker Barshaman Pun has said that the visit visa scandal must be resolved before discussions on the national budget can take place.

Speaking to journalists in New Baneshwar on Wednesday, Pun said, “The parliament must function, and it's the government's responsibility to ensure that. We allowed the budget to be presented, but there must be a discussion. Before that, the government needs to address the visit visa issue.”

Pun also stressed the need for flexibility from the government. “We are trying to resolve the matter amicably. The government should be flexible. If it believes the issue is invalid, it should say so; if not, it must conclude the matter through proper discussion,” he said.

The opposition parties have continued to obstruct parliamentary proceedings, demanding the formation of an investigation committee into the visit visa scandal, in which Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has been implicated.
