RUPANDEHI, April 5: Jokh Bahadur Mahara, the leader of the CPN (Maoist Center) parliamentary party in Lumbini Province, has been appointed as the chief minister (CM) of the province.
Province Chief Amik Sherchan appointed Mahara as the CM in accordance with Article 168(2) of the Constitution.

Mahara has the support of 48 members of the provincial assembly, including 29 from the CPN-UML, 10 from the Maoist Center, four from the Nagarik Unmukti Party, three from the Janata Samajbadi party, one from the CPN (Unified Socialist), and one independent member.
According to the Office of the Province Chief, the swearing-in ceremony for the newly- appointed CM will be held on Sunday.
