BUTWAL, August 11: CPN (Maoist Center) leader Kul Prasad KC has been appointed as the Chief Minister (CM) of Lumbini Province.
Province Chief Amik Sherchan appointed KC, who is currently serving as the parliamentary party leader of the Maoist Center, as the chief minister of the Province as per Article 168(2) of the constitution.

Besides the Maoist Center, the newly-appointed Chief Minister KC commands the support of three other parties, namely Nepali Congress, Janata Samajwadi Party and Rastriya Janamorcha. The alliance of four parties had earlier submitted signatures of 42 lawmakers to stake their claim to the post of chief minister.
KC is an elected lawmaker of the Lumbini Province from Rolpa Constituency Number 1 (a). The Office of the Province Chief has scheduled an oath taking ceremony for the new CM later today.
Chief Minister KC is scheduled to form a small cabinet. Those taking oath of office and secrecy as ministers are likely to be one each from the Maoist Center and NC and three from Janata Samajwadi Party.
