KATHMANDU, Feb 16: Leaders and members of the CPN (Maoist Center) organized protests and demonstrations across the country on Wednesday, warning the government not to ratify the US-funded Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
CPN (maoist Center) leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha also took part in one of such protests held in the capital organized by the sister organizations of the party against the grant agreement.
The protestors carried banners and placards demanding the government not ratify the MCC outside the House of Representatives building at Baneshwar. Earlier the MCC headquarters had written to the Nepali government to ratify the MCC before February 28. It had also stated that the decision to ratify the project was in the hands of Nepal alone.
