Manakamana temple gets 1kg gold for coating

GORKHA, July 9: The Department of Archeology has provided one kilogram gold to the Manakamana Area Development Committee to coat the famous Manakamana Temple with gold.



Chairperson of the Committee Dinesh Joshi confirmed that the gold received has been deposited in Rastriya Banijya Bank, New Road branch, in the capital. [break]



Mr Joshi said the market value of the gold is above Rs 5.8 million.



The Department provided the gold to coat the idols, Tundal and other worshiping materials in the temple.



Similarly, the government provided Rs 4.1 million to purchase timbers from Makawanpur district necessary for the renovation of the temple.



The total renovation work of the temple is expected to cost around Rs 80 million, Joshi said.
