TAPLEJUNG, Dec 21: A man was found dead with a muzzle-loader gun in Sanghu Lekuwa of Maiwakhola Rural Municipality–3 in Taplejung.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Bedaprasad Gautam of the District Police Office, Taplejung, the deceased has been identified as local resident Phurba Renju Sherpa, aged around 25–26, son of Mingma Tenzing Sherpa.

Police said the incident occurred while Sherpa was loading gunpowder into a muzzle-loader gun in a large cardamom field belonging to local Tilok Singh Limbu. The gun reportedly went off accidentally, causing a fatal gunshot wound to his neck.
Based on preliminary information provided by Sonam Sherpa, the nephew who had accompanied Phurba Renju at the time, police established the circumstances surrounding the incident. Sonam Sherpa has been taken into custody for further investigation, police said.
A police team led by Inspector Deepak Limbu from the Area Police Office, Dobhan, has been deployed to carry out a detailed investigation into the incident, according to DSP Gautam.
