KATHMANDU, March 16: Media Action Nepal (MAN) has joined the Civil Society Coalition on Information and Democracy, a global network of 65 civil society organizations working to safeguard democracy, press freedom, and human rights in the digital era.
The coalition, launched in 2021 under the Forum on Information and Democracy (FID), aims to strengthen democratic principles in the global information and communication space. MAN is the first organization from Nepal to join the initiative.

Camille Grenier, Executive Director of the Coalition, welcomed the inclusion. He maintained that MAN’s commitment to press freedom and the right to information aligns with the coalition’s efforts to uphold democratic values and information integrity worldwide, the press release stated.
Likewise, Laxman Datt Pant, Executive Director of Media Action Nepal, said the organization’s grassroot experience in Nepal and South Asia would contribute to global discussions on democracy and media development, the press release further stated.
The MAN has been actively involved in media literacy, journalist safety, and press freedom advocacy ever since its establishment in 2015. The organization is also a member of global media alliances, including the Media Freedom Coalition-Consultative Network, ACOS Alliance, and the Global Forum for Media Development.
