KATHMANDU, May 5: Police have arrested a man who had been on the run after committing murder over a dispute related to a wedding.
The suspect has been identified as 36-year-old Sikendra Prasad Chauhan of Pokhariya Municipality-5 in Parsa district. He was arrested by a police team from the District Police Office, Parsa. The Parsa District Court has granted a seven-day remand for investigation under charges of homicide.

The incident dates back to April 17, 2019, when 33-year-old Dharmendra Prasad Chauhan of Pokhariya-6 married Nisha Kumari Chauhan of Pokhariya-5. A dispute arose after the bride's side reportedly refused to send her off following the wedding ceremony.
On April 22, 2022, tensions escalated into a physical altercation in the courtyard of Udyan English Boarding School in Pokhariya-4. During the clash, the groom's father, Shankar Prasad Mahato, suffered serious head injuries. He later died on June 25, 2022, while undergoing treatment at Shahid Gangalal Hospital in Kathmandu.
Sikendra Prasad Chauhan was arrested in connection with this fatal incident.
