KATHMANDU, Nov 8: A man allegedly involved in trafficking women has been arrested from Lalitpur.
A team of police personnel deployed by the Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau of Nepal Police apprehended Gautam Lama, 55, of Kathmandu-7 from his own residence on Wednesday. The arrested Lama had allegedly trafficked a 23-year-old woman to Lebanon, according to Nepal Police.
In its social media update earlier on Sunday, police said the accused is currently residing at Mahalaxmi Municipality-9, Lamatar in Lalitpur district. The accused was at large for years after selling the woman in Lebanon.
Lama is also accused of sexually exploiting the victim for ten years on the pretext of finding her a lucrative job abroad. Police have begun a thorough investigation into the case.
