Malla lifted 105 kg in snatch as well as 120 kg in clean and jerk for a total weight of 225 kg. Another home grown weightlifter Bikash Thapa lifted 97 kg in snatch as well as 118 kg in clean and jerk to claim all three silver medals of the category.[break]
Meanwhile, Shabira Molla of Bangladesh won the first gold medal of the championship. In women´s 48 kg weight category, Malla lifted 60 kg in snatch to claim the first gold. Molla elevated 72 kg in clean and jerk and 132 kg in total to clinch other two gold medals.
Sri Lankan Avayasekara claimed three silver medals in the category while Kabita Chaudhary of Nepal bagged all three bronze medals.
In women´s 63 kg, Rajwant Kaur won gold in snatch. Jena Sitakumari of India won two gold medals in clean and jerk as well as total lift. Uttam Khatri of Nepal claimed all three bronze medals of the category.
Mitali Seth of India clinched all three gold medals in women´s 58 kg weight section.
Tikoniya Gopal of India lifted 68 kg in snatch, 85 kg in clean and jerk to claim all three gold medals of the women´s 53 kg weight category while GK Bandara lifted 100 kg to win gold medal in snatch of the men´s 56 kg weight section.
Another Sri Lankan Vijay Surya, who is senior to Bandara, lifted same weight in snatch but had to satisfy with silver medal because of seniority. However, he lifted 132 kg in clean and jerk for a total of 232 kg to clinch the two gold medals.
In men´s 77 kg, Satish Kumar of India lifted 128 kg in snatch and 161 kg in clean and jerk to claim all three gold medals for the event.
