CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya said on Sunday that they would not participate in the election unless the 25-point ordinance approved by President Dr Ram Baran Yadav to resolve constitutional difficulties is scrapped. [break]
“We are against the current non-political government formed under the 25-point ordinance. The big four parties must agree to scrap the ordinance if they want to prove to us that they are flexible,” said Baidya while addressing a function organized by All Nepal National Independent Student Union-Revolutionary in the capital on Sunday.
Baidya´s remarks come at a time when the four major parties have agreed to increase seats under the proportional representation electoral system, hold an all-party political conference and reconstitute the High Level Political Committee. The parties had maintained that they would address all their demands except the change of government.
Baidya warned that his party would be forced to disrupt the election process if the parties decided to go ahead with the election process without addressing their demands. He argued that formation of a national consensus government through roundtable political conference was a must to resolve the current political deadlock.
Speaking at the function, Baidya accused the government of ignoring the education sector. He argued that the education sector in Nepal is in dire need of transformation.
