The party insiders have informed that the leaders who were elected in the last Constituent Assembly (CA) election will file their candidacies from their respective constituencies.
SP Joint General Secretary Arjun Upreti has said that the party Chairman Rajendra Mahato will contest the poll from constituency number 4 of Sarlahi, Vice Chairman Sanjay Sah from the constituency number 4 of Dhanusha and General Secretary Manish Suman and Upreti himself have been selected under proportional representation (PR) electoral system.
Likewise, another Vice Chairman Abdul Jabbar will contest from constituency number 2 of Rauthat, another Vice Chairman Nabal Kishore Sah from constituency number 2 of Saptari, Secretary Rama Nand Mandal from constituency number 4 of Morang, Joint Secretary Ram Kumar Gupta from constituency number 1 of Siraha, Anish Ansari from constituency number 3 of Saptari, another Vice Chairman Om Prakash Guljari from constituency number 6 of Rupandehi, senior leader Badri Mandal from constituency number 5 of Morang, another General Secretary Saroj Kumar Yadav from constituency number 1 of Bara, among others would contest the poll from their respective home districts.
Upreti further said that their party will field candidates in 213 constituencies. He said that their party has almost finalized candidates.
TMDP Vice Chairman Brikhesh Chandra Lal said that their party has also almost decided about their leaders contesting the poll. “Party Vice Chairman Hridyesh Tripathi will contest the election from constituency number 6 of Nawalparasi, Spokesperson Sarbendra Nath Sukla from constituency number 6 of Rupandehi, CC member Brijesh Gupta from constituency number 3 of Kapilvastu. Lal will contest from constituency number 4 of Dhanusha, Parmeshwar Sah and Anita Yadav from constituency number 2 and 5 respectively, Dr Manzorr Ahmed from constituency number 5 of Kapilvastu, Joint Secretary Jitendra Sonal from constituency number 4 of Bara, among others, will contest from their respective home districts,” added Lal. "However, party chairman Thakur will not contest the poll under FPTP electoral system." Thakur was defeated in the last CA election from constituency no.6 of Sarlahi district.
“I am hopeful that this time I would get victory as I had contributed in the developmental sector of the district in the past,” Lal further added. He further said that people have assured him of victory. "The final list of candidates will be made public within two days."
Central Committee (CC) member of MPRF-N Arjun Thapa has said that their leaders will contest the election from those respective constituencies from which they got victory in the last CA election. “The final list of the candidates will be made public within two days,” said Thapa. He added that their party Chairman Yadav has been recommended from three constituencies. “He [Chairman Yadav] has been recommended for constituency number 5 of Sunsari and Morang and constituency number 2 of Saptari. But Yadav will finally contest from only two constituencies.”
“Bijay Yadav from Siraha, Dr Birendra Mahato from constituency number 5 of Siraha, Dr Ram Swarth Ray from constituency number 4 of Dhanusha, Baban Singh from constituency number 1 of Rauthat, among others, will contest from their respective home districts,” said Thapa. He insisted that their party will file candidacies at only 30 per cent of the total constituencies.
Sources have confirmed that the office bearers of MPRF-N would not contest the poll under FPTP.
Vice Chairman of MPRF-D Govind Chaudhary has said that their party was yet to prepare the final list of candidates. “Our Chairman Gachchhadar will contest the poll from constituency number 3 of Sunsari, I from constituency number 5 of Rauthat, Jitendra Dev and Mrigendra Yadav from constituency number 3 and 4 of Saptari respectively, Birendra Nepali from constituency number 5 of Parsa,” he maintained. "However, the list of candidates will be made public on Monday evening."
Chaudhary further added that their another Vice Chairman Nasir Siddiqui, party Secretary duo Ravindra Thakur and Chandeshwar Khatbe, among others, will contest under FPTP electoral system.
