Maina's mom writes to Bhandari

KATHMANDU, Jan 4: Devi Sunar, the mother of Maina Sunar who was allegedly killed by the Nepal Army during the conflict in 2004, has requested Defense Minister Bidya Bhandari to order arrest of the army personnel, including Niranjan Basnet, involved in the killing of her daughter.



Sunar wrote a letter to Bhandari in the aftermath of the army´s refusal to hand over Major Basnet to the police. Police want Basnet for investigation in connection with a case pending in the Kavre District Court against him.



“We both know the pain of being a widow. But I feel that losing a child the way I lost is more excruciating than losing anything else in the world,” she has written in the letter.
