ASI Thaman Bahadur Bishwokarma, who was with the Jalsagar Border Security Force, was stabbed to death with sharp weapons after being chased down and cornered by agitators, confirmed SP Birendra Bahadur Pandey of the APF.
He had been on his way to Jaleshwor by bicycle when protestors, seeing his short hair, first started chasing him.
He was alone and unarmed at the time, and throwing away his bag he fled for his life. They gave chase until he reached a pond at Jaleshor Bazzar and he jumped into the water to save himself. The protesters simply dragged him out and started kicking and beating him mercilessly with sticks.
Bishwokarma pleaded for his life but they did not stop. That was when police reinforcements reached the site and intervened just in time.
But Bishwokarma had suffered excessive loss of blood and he was rushed to Jaleshor Hospital where he received 16 stitches.

As further treatment was not possible at that hospital, they decided to take him to Janakpur by ambulance.
The ambulance made a detour using rural roads as the main roads in the district were obstructed by the agitators. Unfortunately, hundreds of protesters turned up to obstruct their path. They dragged the injured cop from the ambulance and started attacking him and those accompanying him. The protesters set the ambulance ablaze as Bishokarma and his companions started fleeing for their lives.
Bishokarma could not run far as he was already weak from loss of blood. The protesters then stabbed him to death with sharp household weapons.
According to SP Pandey, Bishokarma's body was found 500 meters from the spot where the ambulance was set on fire.
Bishokarma had been returning to Banauta APF base camp from Hetauda earlier in the morning after attending exams conducted by the United Nations.
