Madhesh govt forms committee to probe budget transfer

JANAKPURDHAM, July 12: The Madhesh government has formed an all-party special parliamentary committee to probe into the alleged transfer of budget to the municipalities while the fiscal year is getting expired in a few days.


In the meeting of the Province Assembly on Tuesday, Speaker Ram Chandra Mandal shared that as per political agreement, a 10-member probe committee was formed to probe into the dispute and present a report in the parliament within two months.

The work procedure will be prepared by the committee itself. It is effective from the coming fiscal year. The committee comprises Province Assembly members Dipendra Kumar Thakur, Nagendra Prasad Saha, Raj Kumar Gupta, Shambhu Prasad Saha, Upendra Mahato, Jawahar Prasad Kushwaha, Kanish Patel, Kanchan Bichchha, Bimala Ansari and Urmila Devi Singh. The committee itself would pick a chair.


Earlier, Province Assembly meeting was obstructed by the major opposition CPN UML last Saturday citing that Finance Minister Sanjay Kumar Yadav had transferred the budget of some Rs 700 million from one heading to another in different municipalities at a time when there are few days left for the current fiscal year, 2079/80 to end.


In the Province Assembly meeting on Tuesday, Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav announced that corruption would not be tolerated at any rate.
