KATHMANDU, March 12: Expressing serious reservation over the unilateral decisions taken by the Central Committee meeting of the establishment faction, the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction of the CPN-UML has decided to form parallel committees of the party from the center to local level.
A Standing Committee meeting of the Nepal-led faction of the UML on Friday made the decision, protesting against the decision made by the Oli-led faction of the UML to unilaterally nominate 23 Central Committee members and strip off the responsibility of all leaders close to the faction. The Nepal-led faction had called an emergency meeting of its Standing Committee members to discuss about the development and forge their new strategy.
The Oli-led Central Committee meeting of the UML held earlier on Friday had taken various decisions including the nomination of 23 former Maoist leaders as the party's CC members. The Nepal-led faction has decided to reject the unilateral decision taken by Chairman Oli.
CC members close to Nepal were not invited to the meeting that took these controversial decisions. Sources said the parallel committees from the center to local level would be announced within next week.
The Nepal-led faction has called joint meeting of their CC and the party's parliamentary party to forge new strategy. Discussion was also held to formally split the party of Oli continued showing same type of high handedness against own party leaders and cadres.
