According to the organizers, the expo became successful in meeting the objectives of introducing Pakistani products in the Nepal market. Also, it provided a forum for interaction for businesspeople in the two countries.
Ahmed Barlas, a member of the organizing committee and proprietor of MAB Exports, said they were overwhelmed by the response of Nepali people and have decided to continue the expo in coming years as well. “We will continue to introduce new items every year. Visitors will see different items in the ´4th Made in Pakistan Products Expo,” said Barlas, who is involved in manufacturing and export of handicraft.

Pakistani products ranging from wooden furniture to textile products, kurtha salwar and saris, leather products, footwear, jewelry, cosmetics and gemstones, cushion cover, handicraft made of onyx, kitchenware and melamine products, among others kept on display at the expo.
“Leather goods and furniture were the major showstoppers at the expo,” said Barlas.
Mohamma Asaraf of Salman Brothers, who deals in leather products, said he was satisfied with the sales. “We´ve managed to sell all the products even though we had priced them higher due to high customs duty and other additional charges,” Asaraf said, adding: “I am looking forward to expand my business here and I have already talks with my aspirant partners.”
Like Asaraf, most of the participants at the expo used the event to expand their business. “I am planning to expand my business here as Nepalis women loved our kurtha salwars very much,” said Mohammad Azeem of Classic that deals in kurtha salwars.
Buoyed by footfall of visitors and sales figures, most of the participating traders said events like these should be organized more frequently as they help explore market and increased trade volume between the two countries.
The expo, which saw participation of 65 businessmen from Pakistan, attracted a total of 25,000 visitors. According to the organizers, total turnover during the expo increased by 15 to 20 percent compared to last year.
