Lumbini province budget approved by majority votes

LUMBINI, July 6: The budget of Lumbini province government for the fiscal year 2080/81 was approved with majority votes.

A meeting of the province assembly held on Wednesday endorsed the budget for the next fiscal year.

Province Minister for Finance Dhan Bahadur Maski had presented a bill seeking consideration for the endorsement of the executive budget proposal at the province assembly.

Speaker Tularam Gharti announced that the budget proposal was endorsed with majority on the basis of voice vote.

The finance minister had presented a budget of around Rs 40 billion 479 million for the fiscal 2080/81 in the province assembly on behalf of the government.

Main opposition party, CPN-UML, has been protesting the budget proposal put forth by the provincial government. It resulted in the obstruction of the province assembly for four consecutive days.

The province assembly meeting continued its business after a dialogue between Chief Minister Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary and main opposition leaders on Tuesday.

Lumbini province government has come up with a budget of Rs 13 billion 633 million (33.68 percent) towards recurrent category, Rs 23 billion 256.9 million towards capitalized category (57.45 percent) and Rs 3 .58 billion (8.87 percent) towards fiscal management.
