KATHMANDU, Dec 23: Police have begun investigation into the two assailants who assaulted suspended chief commissioner of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Lokman Singh Karki and smeared him with soot.
According to SSP Pradhumna Karki of Metropolitan Police Circle, Kathmandu, an additional 7-day-deadline has been provided to the MPC to look into the incident under the Pubic Offence Act (POA) by District Administration Office, Kathmandu. “The District Administration Office has remanded the assailants to 7 days in custody under the POA,” he said," following the preliminary statements given by them.

They might be sentenced to one year in jail along with a fine of Rs 10,000 if they were found guilty.
The assailants were subsequently identified as Prabal Shahi and Chandra Bahadur Budha, central committee members of All Nepal National Independent Student Union Revolutionary, student wing of Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist.
They assaulted suspended Karki and smeared him with soot on the premises of Supreme Court while he was returning home after appearing before the court for a hearing on the writ petition filed against him on Thursday afternoon.
They might be sentenced to one year in jail along with a fine of Rs 10,000 if they were found guilty.
