KIMATHANKA, April 5 : A memorandum has been submitted to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal demanding re-opening of the Nepal-China border checkpoint in Kimathanka of Sankhuwasabha.

Chairman of Bhotkhola rural municipality, Wang Chhodar Bhot, submitted  the memo to Prime Minister Dahal on Wednesday. The transit point remains closed for the past three years following the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.

Chairman Bhot shared that Bhotkhola folks have been facing difficulty due to the shutdown of Kimathanka checkpoint for a long time. Locals of Bhokhola have to walk up to four to five days to reach Khandbari, the district headquarter of Sankhuwasabha.

Bhot further said they urged Prime Minister Dahal to take initiative to re-open the checkpoint as soon as possible. The prime minister’s attention was drawn, saying daily life of the people has been affected and hunger might take place due to closure of the checkpoint for a long time, according to Bhot.

On the occasion, Dahal assured that he will take necessary initiative to help re-open the checkpoint.
