BIRGUNJ, Jan 14: A demonstration was held on Sunday demanding action against Mayor Rajesh Man Singh of Birgunj Metropolis. Locals took part in the demonstration today saying that Mayor Singh helped his fake daughter obtain a citizenship certificate, by falsely claiming to be her father.

In addition to protesting at the ward office, a memorandum was also submitted to the Chief District Officer claiming that Mayor Singh, who does not have a daughter, has recommended the girl for citizenship, claiming her to be his daughter.

Vigilant civil society members from Thakur Ram Multiple Campus reached the office premises of Ward No 3 demanding action against those alleged in the misconduct along with Mayor Singh. Mayor Rajesh Man Singh has granted citizenship to a girl named Rubina Shrestha, calling her his daughter.

Baijulal Swarnakar, the chairman of that ward at the time when Rajesh Man took the recommendation, still holds the position. However, the recommendation of citizenship was made by acting ward chairman Tufail Akhtar Thakurai.

Likewise, the Nepali Congress Regional Working Committee has submitted a memorandum to the Chief District Officer saying that action should be taken against the Mayor for illicitly providing citizenship to his fake daughter.
