KATHMANDU, May 27: Locals have formed human chains in protest against the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC)'s decision to narrow the roads in the New Road area to construct footpaths. The protest emerged in response to KMC’s ongoing construction work, which aims to widen the footpaths for pedestrians by removing parking spaces on both sides of the commercial area.

Locals argued that the reduction of road width will exacerbate traffic congestion and create inconvenience for businesses and residents alike.
