KATHMANDU, April 2: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is all set to reduce load-shedding by two hours a day effective from Saturday.

This decision has been taken in view of the control over power leakage, reform in the internal management system and effective use of Kulekhani power house.

The NEA had announced that the power-cut would not exceed 11 hours a day during the winter season.

"The water level in the rivers has not increased. This time around the water level in the river goes down. However, the power crisis can be allayed if we run the existing power houses more effectively," NEA Managing Director Mukesh Raj Kafle told Republica.

Recalling the 12-hour-long load-shedding period this time around last year, Managing Director Kafle said the decision to slash power-cut hours has been taken owing to the effective use of Kulekhai power house.
