Limbuwan protest rally in Panchthar

PANCHTHAR, Oct 6: Pro-Limbuwan political parties are organizing a huge rally to protest against the new constitution saying that it did not ensure the Federal Limbuwan State comprising nine districts to the east of Arun-Koshi River at the district headquarters Phidim of Panchthar on Tuesday.

This, as has been announced, is expected to be the biggest gathering in Panchthar district following the promulgation of the Constitution of Nepal 2015.

"Leaders including Kumar Lingden, chairman of (FLP, N), will address the mass meeting. The rally is being organized to heap pressure on the government and the three major parties to get their demand addressed," said central member of the Limbuwan Party Labhahang Chemjong.

This rally is being organized by the alliance of pro-Limbuwan parties under the coordination of Kirant Yakthung Chumlung, non-profit and non-partisan Limbu indigenous peoples' organization.

The alliance which includes Federal Limbuwan Party Nepal (FLP,N), CPN-Maoist, and Federal Socialist Forum Nepal, has been demanding Federal Limbuwan State through the amendment of the constitution.

Limbu people have been organizing bandas, rallies and strikes demanding Limbuwan state including nine districts to the east of Arun-Koshi River since long.
