Lightning kills three women

KATHMANDU, August 30: Three women from the same village died after lightning struck them at Malahi Tole, Garuda Municipality-3, Rautahat district, on Tuesday. The thunderbolt hit them when they were working in their fields.

The victims include Sudaniya Devi, 39, Jagiya Kumari, 70, and Manisha Kumari, 18, of Malahi village, said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rupesh Kumar Singh, the chief of Area Police Office, Garuda.

Forty-year-old Saili Devi was injured in the incident. Sudaniya and Jagiya are from the same family.

Meanwhile, Garuda Municipality Mayor Kantha Mani Jayaswal reached the incident site and gave assurances of support to the families of the victims, according to Chief Administrative Officer of the municipality, Ram Babu Yadav.
