KATHMANDU, Dec 12: The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has forecasted light to moderate snowfall in certain highland and mountainous areas of the country. Additionally, there is a chance of light rain in some hilly regions.

Examining the weather outlook for the next 24 hours, a slight temperature drop is expected nationwide due to potential weather conditions. The general public is advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate possible effects.

The MFD attributes this to the partial influence of western winds in Nepal. Concurrently, fog has affected several locations in Terai since Tuesday morning.

Likewise, the weather is anticipated to be clear in the hilly areas of the country today. There is a possibility of light rainfall in certain areas of the Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. 

Additionally, light snowfall is likely in one or two locations in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.

For Thursday afternoon, the MFD predicts generally clear weather in the hilly areas, including Koshi Province, while the rest of the country will experience partial cloudiness. There is a chance of light snowfall in certain high hill and mountainous areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces. Thursday night is expected to be partly cloudy in the hilly areas and generally clear in the rest of the country.
