He said the resolution motion at the legislature-parliament against the president´s move was the simplest and best solution, and that the Maoists were also ready to discuss other alternatives. “We just want the president´s move corrected. We are ready to discuss any alternatives to correct his move,” Bhattarai said while speaking at a talk program in Biratnagar.
“If there is any other better way to correct the move, we are ready to discuss it,” he said, “But we think there is no other better way.”
Dr Bhattarai stressed the need for consensual politics to bridge the widening gulf among the political parties. He was for amending the constitution to pave the way for consensual politics.
Accusing the ruling political parities of isolating the Maoists from the peace process, he said constitution writing would not be completed by “encircling” the largest political party. “They are isolating the Maoists even though they know that they don´t have the two-third majority in the constituent assembly to promulgate the constitution.”
Nepali Congress leader Narahari Acharya also held the views that the political parties made a mistake by breaking the politics of consensus. He deplored the fact that the political parties were focused on government formation rather than constitution writing.
Arguing in line with the Maoists, Acharya said a national unity government was the need of the hour, but it has been overshadowed by the contentious politics. “A national government is needed to complete the task of constitution writing,” he said.
CPN-UML leader Pradip Gyawali said the political parties were at the risk of losing their credibility by failing to end the widening differences among them.
Lets talk about suicide!!
