Leopard rampage worries locals of Ilam

ILAM, Feb 23: Locals of northern belt of Ilam district have been in worrisome state with growing rampage of leopard in human settlement. 


Woes of locals have increased when the jungle cat started killing cattle tied in sheds. 

Folks of high hill areas of the district are worrying after leopard descended to the human settlements from forests and started attacking and leaving their cows, goats and horses dead.

Deepak Gurung, a local of Jamuna VDC, said that the leopard had killed castrated goats, cows and horses of several farmers in the third week of February. 


Likewise, victim Taraman Gurung of Jamuna-8, said that the leopard had eaten up three castrated goats causing the loss of over Rs 50,000. 


Similarly, the jungle beast had killed two goats of Dorje Sherpa of Jamuna-8, three goats of Chhettar Sherpa of Jamuna-5, a horse anda cow of Subba Kanchha of Jogmai-7. 

With growing rampage of leopard, locals are compelled to keep their cattle inside homes. RSS
