District Forest Office (DFO) of Baitadi has decided to provide Rs 150,000 as relief to the family of Muniram.
Muniram is the fourth girl to be killed by leopard in Pancheshwor village. Locals say four persons -- three girls and a pregnant woman -- have already been killed by leopard over the last two months.
Locals claim three more persons have been killed by leopard in nearby Indian villages as well. However, it has not been confirmed if it was the same leopard that killed them all.
Locals living in Pancheshwor, Kulau, Aamchaura and Mahakali village have urged the local authorities to take the leopard under control. "We are scared to walk alone," says Shiva Singh Saud, principal of Bhumiraj Primary School in Pancheshwor.
"More people may be attacked if the leopard is not taken under control immediately."
"We have not been able to sleep properly in the night," said Suresh Raut, a resident of Pancheshwor. "We need to remain watchful even in the night."
Last year also, seven persons were killed by leopard in the lower Sworang region of Baitadi.
