Popular lentil varieties like Mas Dal, Rahar Dal and Musuro Dal have become dearer by Rs 3 to Rs 5 kg, according to Ganesh Store, a retailer based in Maitidevi. "The price increased because of the rise in wholesale prices of fresh supplies," the owner of the store said. [break]
Price of Musuro Dal, a popular lentil variety, has increased by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 98 per kg. Likewise, Mas Dal has become dearer by Rs 10 per kg as compared to the prices recorded a couple of weeks ago. It was selling for Rs 120 per kg two weeks ago.
Price of Chana Dal has also increased by Rs 10 to Rs 15 kg over the period. Chana Dal is selling for Rs 70 to Rs 80 per kg. Green pea is selling for Rs 60 per kg, up from Rs 55 per kg recorded two weeks ago.
According to a retailer at Ason, price of Rahar Dal has also increased over the period. Rahar Dal is selling for Rs 145 per kg, up from Rs 140 per kg recorded a couple of weeks ago. The price of Mung Khosta, another popular lentil variety, has also increased to Rs 155 per kg from Rs 150 over the period.
The price of sugar, however, has remained stable over the period. Sugar is selling in the range of Rs 65 to Rs 70 per kg, according to the traders.
The price of edible oil has also remained stable. Dhara brand of mustard oil is selling for Rs 140 per liter, while the price of sunflower oil is hovering around Rs 110 per liter, according to Hamro Pasal, a retailer based in New Baneshwar. Price of soybean oil has remained unchanged at Rs 90 per liter.
