The leaders of the three main political parties had gone to the U.K. at the invitation of the British government.[break]
Vice-chairman of the UCPN (Maoist) Narayan Kaji Shrestha, general secretary of the Nepali Congress Prakash Man Singh and secretary of the CPN-UML Bishnu Paudel were in the team. They had gone to the U.K. on October 31.
Although the announced program of the visit has concluded, UCPN (Maoist) vice-chairman Shrestha has not returned and he is still in the U.K.
While in the U.K., the leaders met with the parliamentary assistant secretary of state at the Commonwealth and South Asia, Alistair Bert and state minister for international development Alan Duncan, among high-ranking British officials.
They also held talks with the British leaders about Nepal´s peace process and the proposed federal structure.
Talking to journalists at Tribhuvan International Airport upon arrival home, Nepali Congress general-secretary Singh said the U.K. has pledged to provide assistance for taking the peace process to conclusion.
