Leader Singh insists on election on scheduled date

KATHMANDU, April 13: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Prakashman Singh has insisted on holding the local-level election on the announced date so as to meet the constitutional deadline to conduct the three-tier election by the next 10 months.

KATHMANDU, April 13: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Prakashman Singh has insisted on holding the local-level election on the announced date so as to meet the constitutional deadline to conduct the three-tier election by the next 10 months.

Addressing a greetings exchange programme organised by a local sports club at Bhimsengola in the capital today on the occasion of the Nepali new year-2074 BS, leader Singh highlighted the need of organising the election to effectively implement the constitution. His view was that the election would help determine the country's future course of action. "The country may plunge into a grave accident if political parties failed to move ahead in unison regarding the election issues."


The former deputy prime minister, called on the government to take a stand on his decision of holding the election, claimed that the responsibility of enforcing the constitution as he said promulgated under the NC leadership falls on the shoulders of party leadership. RSS
