Attending the meeting of the today's Legislature-Parliament, leader Khanal spoke of the need to expedite re-settlement of the displaced quake-victims and re-construction of the damaged physical infrastructure in view of the monsoon.
The CPN-UML leader was of the opinion that the rescue and relief operation carried out by the government was not up to the mark given the complex geological structure of the country and due to inconvenience caused to transportation in the rural settlements.
Leader Khanal urged the leaders of all political parties to stay united and move forward in unison to address the aftermath of the quake, including the distribution of relief materials to the victims considering diverse geographical landscape of the country and its urgency.
Khanal attributed the big loss of life and properties by the April 25 quake to the lack of well-preparedness towards the management of disaster.
"The earthquake certainly cost the country the loss of life and property, but has offered us an opportunity to build a new Nepal," argued leader Khanal, also a former Prime Minister, urging all to be untied to safeguard the sovereignty and integrity of the country. RSS
