KATHMANDU, Oct 31: Lawyers associated with Nepal Bar Association (NBA) have staged a protest by tying black ribbons around their arms, demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana. 

The lawyers protested on the premises of the Supreme Court. Citing the protest, security around the court has been tightened.

The NBA had decided to protest against Chief Justice Rana by tying black ribbons from 10AM to 11AM today. The protest will continue for the next three days, according to the association.

Stating that Chief Justice Rana could not stop corruption and had let the credibility of the judiciary down, the NBA had announced to hold protests demanding his resignation.

Chief Justice Rana has maintained that he will not resign and that he is ready to face impeachment by parliament which is the constitutional process to remove the chief justice.
