KATHMANDU, Nov 8: Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana scheduled six benches including for himself on Monday. The chief justice scheduled four joint benches and two single benches to oversee the cases related to habeas corpus on Monday. 

Earlier, all justices at the apex court had announced to oversee only the cases that are related to habeas corpus until the chief justice resigns from his post. 

SC Justices, who have boycotted the hearings, have demanded the resignation of Chief Justice Rana, claiming that the issue of the chief justice seeking his ‘share’ in the government through political give-and-take was a very grave one. They have announced to conduct hearings only in cases related to habeas corpus until Chief Justice Rana steps down from the post.  

Similarly, the Nepal Bar Association has also been staging protests in the capital, demanding the chief justice’s resignation as well.
