Lawmakers seek action against minister Parajuli

KATHMANDU, July 1: Lawmakers have demanded action against Minister for Agriculture Hari Parajuli for harassing women in public place, during a function to mark national paddy day on Tuesday.

Dragging attention of the parliament on Wednesday, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party Lawmaker Anuradha Thapamagar asked the government to take legal action against the minister. Videos and pictures of minister misbehaving women during the paddy day function have gone viral on social media.

"The behavior of agriculture minister is condemnable and legal action should be taken against him," said Thapamagar.Also addressing the House meeting, UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Janardan Sharma asked the government to take action against the minister for his wrongdoing, while Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa demanded his resignation through his twitter post.

CPN-UML disciplinary commission chairman Amrit Bohara said he will strongly raise the issue with the party chairman to take strong action against the minister.
