Lawmakers raise various issues of public concern in parliament

KATHMANDU, Aug 13: Lawmakers at the House of Representatives (HoR) have drawn the attention of government over various issues of public concern on Tuesday.

Speaking at the zero-hour in the House, lawmaker Tek Bahadur Basnet urged the government to implement Labor Act at the earliest. Basnet stressed for equality of remuneration of staffs in community schools and public servants as per the Labor Act.

Another lawmaker Dil Bahadur Mahat Chhetri demanded immediate operation of disrupted Tribeni-Dumkibas road section.

Speaking at the same session, lawmaker Deepak Prakash Bhatta presented the idea of promoting tourism in Sudur Paschim Province through the immediate operation of Tanakpur border-point. He also reiterated that the far western region must not be neglected while Visit Nepal Year 2020 is at the doorstep.

Lawmaker Dev Prasad Gurung, on the other hand, drew the attention of the government for the timely reconstruction of the bridges over various rivers in Lamjung which had been swept by floods in the rainy season.

Lawamker Nabina Lama urged the government not to appoint office bearers in TU based on political power-sharing.

“We have heard that some important documents related to Sugauli Treaty, 1815 and Peace and Friendship Treaty, 19150 have gone missing. It is a real blunder, so I request the honourable speaker to direct the concerned ministry to recover those dossiers as immediately as possible,’ lawmaker Dr Naryan Khadka said while addressing the house.
