KATHMANDU, June 1: Lawmaker Khimlal Devkota has demanded that the proposed Nijgadh International Airport project in Bara be given continuity. The project has been halted following a Supreme Court order that overturned the government’s earlier decision to build the airport.
While demanding the government allocate an adequate budget for the construction of the Nijgadh Airport, Bhattarai argued that the project should be implemented at the earliest possible.

The government's policies and programs have given continuity to the project. So far, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has already spent Rs 3 billion on the project. Similarly, 8,050 hectares of land has been acquired by the government for the project.
On the occasion, NC lawmaker Kamala Devi Panta argued that the annual budget has encouraged agriculture and farmers.
CPN (Maoist Center) lawmaker Narayan Kaji Shrestha sought the help and support of all for the implementation of the budget. Similarly, Maoist Center lawmaker Urmila Aryal and CPN (Unified Socialist)'s lawmaker Madan Kumari Shah drew the attention of authorities concerned to control air accidents and make Nepal’s aviation sector safer.
The lawmakers also demanded investigations into air accidents including the recent Tara Air aircraft crash at Sanosure of Thasang in Mustang district. All 22 people including three crew members onboard were killed in the crash.
