Thousands participated in the funeral procession of founding leader of Nepali Congress that began at the Dashrath Stadium and went through various part of the city in guard of honor.[break]
Thousands paid last tribute to the leader at the Dashrath Stadium where his body was kept for more than six hours.
Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal draped the body of late Bhattarai with national flag and paid his last respect to the deceased.
President Ram Baran Yadav also visited Dasharath Stadium to offer his last respect to the veteran leader.
NC President Sushil Koirala, Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subash Chandra Nembang, NC senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, NC Parliamentary Party leader Ram Chandra Poudel, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal including various other political leaders,government officials and general public also paid their last tribute to Krishna Prasad Bhattarai in the stadium.
A mourning procession will start from the stadium at around 12 p.m which will end at Pashupathi Nath Temple where the last rituals will be performed with state honours around 2 p.m on Sunday.
