Ananda Raj Dhakal, chief tax administrator of the LTO, hoped that they would be able to meet the revenue target of Rs 49.74 billion during the current fiscal year.[break]
The office has set the target of raising Rs 2.74 billion during mid-May to mid-June and Rs 9.25 billion during mid-June to mid-July.
Appraising Finance Secretary Krishna Hari Banskota of the office´s progress report on Tuesday, Dhakal said multinational companies contribute around 47.4 percent, bank, finance and insurance companies 28.6 percent, public enterprises and service 7.3 percent, trade 6.7 percent, agro-based industries 5 and non-agro-based industries 4.1 percent of the total revenue collection from LTO.
Out of the total 722 large tax payers listed at the LTO, 94 are banks, finance and insurance companies, 124 are non-agro-based firms, 29 multinational companies, 106 public enterprises and service enterprises, 262 trading enterprises and 107 agro-based firms.
On the occasion, secretary Baskota urged revenue officials to make revenue administration more disciplined and responsible by uplifting professional integrity.
