BANKE, Aug 16: Landslides and floods triggered by continuous rainfall have completely blocked three major road sections in Lumbini and Karnali provinces, disrupting transportation to rural and remote areas.
In Rolpa, the Shaheed Marg has been completely blocked after a landslide at Shailamaile Mor in Thabang Rural Municipality 2. The landslide has made the road impassable for vehicles. The Shaheed Marg is a key route connecting Rolpa with Rukum East and is frequently affected by landslides during the monsoon.

In Rukum West, flooding at Rijegard Khola in Aathbiskot Municipality 6 has completely blocked the Jajarkot Dolpa section of the Bheri Corridor. The flood damaged the road, bringing traffic to a standstill.
The Rapti Highway in Salyan has also been completely blocked after a landslide at Adijungale in Kapurkot Rural Municipality 8. The obstruction has disrupted both passenger and freight services along the route.
Road blockages have increased across the hilly areas as continued rainfall triggers landslides and raises water levels in rivers and streams. Authorities are working to clear landslides and restore traffic on the affected routes.
Officials have urged motorists to exercise caution, warning that additional landslides and floods could occur at any time as rainfall continues.
The disruptions have also affected the delivery of essential goods to remote settlements, transportation of patients to health facilities and the movement of passengers.
