Landslides claim one life in Kathmandu Valley, damages multiple structures

KATHMANDU, July 6: Landslides triggered by incessant rainfall have claimed at least one life in the Kathmandu Valley.


According to the Nepal Police, Manoj BK 22, a permanent resident of Lakhan Thapa Rural Municipality-6, Gorkha, lost his life in a landslide in Nagarjun-3 in Kathmandu.

BK, who has been working as a helper in a Single Tree restaurant in the area died after a landslide buried the restaurant on Saturday. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Manmohan Memorial Hospital in Swoyambhu.


Likewise, a landslide triggered by the incessant rainfall damaged a one-storey residential structure in Jitpur Phedi of Tarakeshwar Municipality-3. No human casualty has been reported in the incident.


Similarly, a landslide each has been reported in Chutraghari of Chhaimale in Dakshinkali Municipality-8 and Karkibas of Bagmati Rural Municipality-3 of Lalitpur district. Likewise, a road segment in Ghattekulo, Kathmandu, caved-in to around one meter down due to the continuous rain since Friday night.
