SINDHUPALCHOK, July 23: A landslide at Kodari in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2 has completely obstructed the Araniko Highway, effectively shutting down the Tatopani border crossing. The landslide occurred early Wednesday around 5 am following continuous rainfall.
According to Inspector Jagat Bahadur Rai of the Kodari Area Police Office, a massive volume of debris fell from the Iku landslide-prone area, making travel and transport entirely impossible.

Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality Chairman Pasangnurpu Sherpa said the landslide activity has yet to stop, making road clearance efforts currently unfeasible. The Iku section has long been identified as a high-risk zone, worsened by the 2015 earthquake that devastated Kodari settlement.
While the area has since been fully displaced, discussions are ongoing between the Charikot Road Division Office and local authorities regarding road clearance.
