Hekka, who was arrested from Thimi on Tuesday, was planning to sell three ropanis and 4 anas (about 27472 sq ft) of land at Lokanthali of Bhaktapur, with an estimated value of around Rs 117 million, with the help of brokers. [break]The property´s rightful owner, Birmananda Agrawal, 59, is a resident of Indrachowk, Kathmandu.
CIB officials had launched a manhunt to nab Hekka on the basis of a complaint lodged by Agrawal after he found that some racketeers were trying to sell off his land illegally.
According to CIB, Hekka had forged the land ownership documents with the involvement of other brokers and the staff at the Land Revenue Office.
The other arrested are Dipak Kyaal, 34, Karna Bahadur Bista, 38, Shankar Prasad Bhattarai, 33, Dhan Krishna Vasima, 39, Biswaram Suwal, 36 and Tanka Bahadur Budhathoki, 31.
Hekka had lured them with the promise of a share in the money after selling the land. All of the arrested have been handed over to the Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur.
