Lamichhane’s detention hearing to resume on Sunday

Lamichhane appeared at the Rupandehi District Court on Wednesday to give his statement related to the Butwal-based Supreme Cooperative fraud case.

KATHMANDU, Jan 24: The detention hearing of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has been postponed till Sunday due to time constraint. 


Lamichhane appeared at the Rupandehi District Court on Wednesday to give his statement related to the Butwal-based Supreme Cooperative fraud case. A bench of Judge Pralhad Kumar Yogi recorded Lamichhane’s statement throughout the day on Wednesday after which the court proceeded with the detention hearing since Thursday. During Friday’s hearing, two lawyers from the plaintiff’s side and two lawyers from the defendant's side presented their arguments.

Eight government lawyers have so far presented their arguments on behalf of the plaintiffs during the detention hearing against Lamichhane, who faces supplementary charges in the Butwal-based Supreme Cooperative fraud case. 


As the hearing on the case is not complete with some lawyers yet to present their argument, Lamichhane was handed over to his family on the condition that he must appear before the court again on Sunday.
